Health

Health 8: Health 8 students will be learning to apply health literacy skills by analyzing the relationship between healthy behaviors and personal health. Students will also have the opportunity to complete a service-learning project this quarter. They will implement advocacy campaigns to bring attention to health concerns that impact the community.

Health 9/10- This Health course continues in quarter 4 and provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles and become health-literate individuals.  They will learn to access, understand, apply, and advocate for health information and services to maintain and enhance one’s own health and the health of others.

Health 11/12 - Our new, upper-level high school Health course officially kicked off this school year! Students continue to have the opportunity during quarter 4 to go beyond their initial understanding of health and well-being to explore the ways that individual health is an interconnection between personal behavior and societal factors while applying important health literacy skills to protect and promote their health.

Middle School Physical Education

The middle school physical education program is built around the application of skills learned in the elementary years. Students are exposed to a variety of individual and team sports, cooperative, and outdoor/adventure activities, as well as fitness activities. Emphasis is placed on refining game skills/play, problem-solving strategies through the application of game concepts, increasing knowledge of personal fitness, and developing appropriate social skills. All students are afforded opportunities to become physically literate individuals who have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of healthful physical activity. eLearning offers physical education for grades 6, 7, and 8 beginning in Marking Period 2.
