OLP UPDATES - MARCH 14, 2025

  • SAT Day – Students in grade 11 are required to complete this mandated BCPS assessment.  Home schools will invite students to attend the assessment during the window of April 1 – April 3.  Make-up assessments will be offered from April 7 – April 11. 
  • AP Course Testing – All students scheduled in an Advanced Placement (AP) course should be prepared to complete the AP assessment during the testing window of May 5- May 15 and May 23. 
  • Mind Over Matters Annual Conference (March 15, 2025) - The Mind Over Matters (MOM) event is a wonderful opportunity for all students and families to attend a fun and informative afternoon focused on Mental Health Wellness. This year's Mind Over Matters event will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, 10 a.m.-1:30 pm at the Carver Center located at 938 York Rd in Towson, MD.  This dynamic event focuses on promoting mental health and substance use awareness to BCPS students, families, and staff. Please come and see all the student performers and keynote speakers, followed by breakout workshops. Workshops include learning yoga and mindfulness, substance use awareness, conflict resolution, wellness for families, mental health coping skills, and more. We have some new activities- Blue Sky Puppet Theater performing a puppet show, food trucks, new vendors, and much more. Don't forget to visit the vendor fair, which will be available during the event, for additional free giveaways.  Students or Families who want to attend: Please come- no reservation is needed, but the first 100 participants are guaranteed to receive free promotional items and giveaways. Please use the QR code on the Save the Date to register. 
  • Maryland School Survey– Your learner may be invited to participate in the survey at their home school. The assessment is administered to students in grades 5-11 between February 18 – April 18.  
  • MCAP for Elementary and Middle School Students – Students in 5th or 8th grade should receive an invitation to report to their home schools to take the Maryland Integrated Science Assessment (MISA).  This test is being administered in all BCPS elementary and middle schools between March 3rd through March 21, 2025. This is a reminder that all online learning program students are expected to attend their required assessments at their home school as part of the requirements of the online learning program and do their best. If you have not received an invitation to the test, you should contact your child’s home school’s main office early next week to inquire about the date and time of this assessment. We appreciate your attention to this message and look forward to seeing your child perform their best on the test. 
  • MARK YOUR CALENDARS - Upcoming MCAP Assessments – All students enrolled in ELA (all grades) , Math (grades 4-8), Science (grades 5 and 8), Living Systems, Geometry, Algebra I, US History courses are required to participate in state testing.  If your learner’s home school has not contacted you regarding upcoming testing, please contact them so they can confirm the assessment dates and times for your learner(s). Please remember, this is a non-negotiable expectation of all students enrolled in the program – any student who does not participate in state testing will be ineligible to return to OLP during the 2025-2026 school year. Please plan your schedule and transportation accordingly. Also, please notify your learner(s) OLP teacher(s) when testing so we can ensure to mark your student present.
