Class Updates

Mr. Finck

Mr. Finck’s American Government classes will be examining both the Executive and Legislative branches of the National and State government. In this unit students will explore topics such as the roles of the president and the lawmaking process.  Additionally, students will complete an investigation as to whether the electoral college is still a viable system for electing presidents.

Grade 8 American History: Students will be starting Unit 2: Early Nation, which will focus on the early years of the United States.  Specific lessons will focus on important documents including the Articles of Confederation, the US Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. 

Grade 7 World History: Students will be starting Unit 2: Medieval Europe.  In this unit, we will study Feudalism and the social structure of Medieval Europe.  Specific lessons will focus on manors, the role of the church, towns, and technology in Medieval Europe.

World History 6: Classes will be examining the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia and Egypt. In this unit students will explore topics such as the Fertile Crescent, the Nile River, social classes, and government systems. Additionally, students will complete a DBQ essay on Hammurabi's Code of law and a project on Ancient Egyptian pyramids and leaders.

 US History: Classes will be examining the growth and advancement of the nation through immigration and industrialization. In this unit students will explore topics such as working conditions, labor rights and the industrial leaders. Additionally, students will complete a DBQ essay on Progressivism.
